CHINESE VERSION
MAP TO THREE ON THE BUND
An Invitation to a Fundraising Event on May 27, 2008 to Benefit Earthquake Victims in Sichuan
In order to help the victims of the worst nature disaster in China for generations, we would like to invite you to join us in a fundraising effort on the evening of May 27th, 2008. This exclusive event is organized by Women in Leadership (WIL),Three on the Bund and Asia America Multi-Technology Association (AAMA) . We will allocate the funds in two parts. Half will support short term needs such as medical and sanitary supplies. These will be send to Sichuan directly. The other half will enable longer term programs to support orphans and to help women regain their financial independence through new business creation and job training.
This tragedy put a stop to hundreds of thousands of people’s daily lives. 1.3 billion Chinese have woken up to a world that is changed forever. Our patriotic love, that had been dormant for so long, has been rekindled. We are united now by our responsibility to our country and to our united future.
During the past few weeks, the entire Chinese population has been crying and praying. We will always remember the touching moments where love revealed itself to us: a young mother that sacrificed herself in order to protect her baby underneath her body. In her dying moments she wrote an sms on her mobile phone: ” Dear baby, if you are still alive, please remember, I love you!”; another young mother who was still breastfeeding her baby even after her death to keep the baby alive; a brave young teenager that saved seven classmates from a collapsed building; a nine-year-old boy who was singing in the ruins to keep his hope alive.
Since the earthquake hit, thousands of people have all worked together: the life-saving efforts by the army and common people, the volunteers that drive SUVs and take supplies from thousands of miles away to Sichuan, and the foreign relief workers who have come to help. But all the tears in the world will not bring back the people that were lost. Those people in heaven are hoping that their families and friends will continue their lives and live them to their fullest potential. There are many children that have lost their parents and parents that have lost their children. People have lost their homes, their possessions and their livelihoods. They will need substantial and continued support going forward, emotionally and financially.
Please join us in our mission to make a difference.
Women in Leadership, Asia America Multi Technology Association and Three on the Bund invite you to join us for an evening of giving and sharing. In partnership with a host of generous sponsoring organizations, we have arranged an exclusive opportunity for the business community’s most influential leaders to join forces and make a significant impact.
We sincerely hope you will join us in person to meet other leaders like you who share our mission. Let us join together, expand our capacity for humanity, love, empathy, attachment and compassion!
Sincerely,
The Leadership Teams of WIL, Three on the Bund and AAMA
